Community Guidelines
What makes a good review, what is not allowed, and how moderation works.
The spirit of it
OurScent's ratings are only useful if they are honest. Write about your own experience with a fragrance, in any of our languages, and respect other readers.
A good review
- Describes how the perfume smelled on you, how it developed, and how long it lasted.
- Says where and when you wore it — the climate matters, especially in the Gulf and Egypt.
- Compares it to perfumes you know, if that helps.
Not allowed
- Reviews of a perfume you have not smelled, or written for someone else.
- Paid, gifted or incentivised reviews that do not say so — and reviews by brands or stores about their own products.
- Several accounts or devices used to push a rating up or down.
- Insults, harassment, hate speech, threats, or sexual content.
- Personal information about anyone, including yourself (phone numbers, addresses).
- Advertising, links to shops, discount codes or spam.
- Selling, swapping or asking for counterfeit products.
- Content that copies someone else's writing or breaks the law.
How moderation works
Review videos rewarded with a coupon are labelled as such on the site, and the reward never depends on a positive opinion. The “liked it / didn’t” rating asked after a purchase is not rewarded; it counts towards the perfume’s overall rating.
Every review is read by a person before it is published, usually within a few days. We may decline a review that breaks these guidelines. Votes are counted automatically, and we may remove votes we identify as manipulation.
Repeated or serious breaches can lead to your account being suspended.
