One of the most accepted versions on the origins of the Sex on the Beach cocktail is connected to a barista competition held in Florida in 1987 by a local distributor of peach schnapps. The winner was a young man named Ted at the Confetti's bar who mixed it with orange juice, grenadine and vodka. He gave the name to the cocktail, thinking of the main reasons that attracted tourists to the area – beach and sex. The American restaurant chain TGI Friday's however, was responsible for spreading its recipe worldwide throughout the 90s. Sex on the Peach is inspired by the tropical drink, focusing on the carnal and juicy aspects of a peach. Citruses and floral notes make up an innocent aura, which is counterbalanced by an aphrodisiac accord of cumin, indole and musk.
