"A contrast between femininity and masculinity. In 1905, after painting much of the painting, Pablo Picasso waited a month to finish it by placing a garland of flowers on the child's head. After several reconsiderations with all kinds of poses of the boy, standing, sitting, or leaning against the wall, Pablo decided to paint him sitting. He commented that the boy was one of: "Local boys, actors, ladies and gentlemen, criminals... who were hanging around, sometimes all day.
