Although it already existed in Burgundy since 1904, the cassis liqueur “tinged” drink changed its recipe to white wine due to the confiscation of all red wine by the German army during World War II. To enrich the drink, the mayor of Dijon, Félix Kir, demanded that the so-called "blanc-cassis" was prepared with the legitimate Lelay "crème de cassis". The drink became popular at the post-1945 receptions, earning the surname of his biggest enthusiast. Later, the French began to offer a champagne-based version – the Kir Royale. Kiris Royale recreates the bubbly and relaxed aspect of the cocktail with notes of mandarin, cardamom and forest fruits, as well as providing a dry and refined texture with orris, red cedar and musk.
